The goal of our work is to explore how to reduce packaging volume by pressing dry products, using coffee and mashed potatoes as examples. With a hydraulic press, we managed to make the products smaller in volume. The amount of packaging material needed decreased by 1.2 times for natural coffee, 2.5 times for “3-in-1” coffee, and 2.4 times for mashed potatoes.

After studying all the features of the new product, we concluded that it keeps all the same advantages as the regular one but doesn’t have the disadvantages of bulky packaging or inconvenient use. Since this method of reducing packaging volume is universal, it can also be used for other products and improved in many ways.
